At Barnes Ranch, we promote responsible horse ownership. In the Horse Basics Series, Gerrie provides potential and new horse owners with real-life information, so they can make informed decisions when considering the addition of a horse to their lives.

Basics of Buying a Horse, the first seminar in the Horse Basics Series developed by Gerrie, is a classroom-style format and provides a full day of information on how to buy an appropriate horse for you, your riding style and experience level.

In the Basics of Buying a Horse, Gerrie discusses:

What kind of horse would meet my needs?
Deciding on your experience level
Deciding on your sport, event, or activity BEFORE going horse hunting
What should I look for in a good horse? (Includes the Pre-Purchase Veterinary Examination and an assessment of conformation)
Where to find a well-broke, well-trained horse
How much to pay for a good horse
Getting basic training BEFORE going horse hunting
An organized horse hunting method featuring the Horse Hunting Checklist
Before you make the final payment (Includes how to register your horse with your state)
Common problems and mistakes of horse buying

Take home the Horse Hunting Checklist to help you narrow down your choices, guide you through the purchase and help you avoid the many pitfalls that can occur in the horse-buying process.

Using the Horse Valuation Formula you will be able to estimate approximately how much to pay for a good horse that is right for you.
