Performance Riding

Part 1 – The Rider
Part 2 – The Horse

In our opinion, performance riding is a very important first step before beginning the specific training required for almost any event: versatility ranch horse, western dressage, trail & obstacle events and other events.

Performance riding is the ability of the rider to sit the horse with good balance – using your seat and legs as your primary tool and using the reins & bit minimally. The rider feels more in tune with the movement of the horse and the horse becomes softer and more trusting.

The horse also has an important part in performance riding. With the help of the rider, the horse learns how to control and use the separate parts of its body.

Our Performance Riding Clinic is an introduction to the concept with plenty of practice time. We recommend 4 – 5 private, semi-private, or small group follow up lessons to reinforce this approach to riding and to create mental and muscle memory.
